The Advantages Of Studying In Canada

The number of foreign students studying in Canada is over 250,000 at the time of writing, a figure which is constantly increasing. Due to the benefits that studying in Canada will offer, many of these students prefer Canada over other possible destinations, such as the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia and France.

The choice to study in Canada can be one of the most critical, and strongest, choices taken by young people from all over the world, with quality and more affordable education, healthy communities, job opportunities (both during and after the study period), and as a road to Canadian permanent residence.

World-class colleges and universities

Canadian universities and colleges are known for their research and creativity throughout the world. The higher education institutions in Canada are varied, differing in scale, reach, design and variety of programmes. High academic expectations and thorough quality controls ensure that students will access a high quality education that can support their careers.  In general, a Canadian degree, diploma or qualification is regarded as equal to that earned from the nations of the United States or Commonwealth.

Lower cost of study

Canada is also the chosen destination for students who, because of the lower tuition rates, will still have the opportunity to study in countries such as the United States or the United Kingdom. Canadian overseas tuition rates, lodging and other living costs remain affordable relative to other nations.

Work when you're learning

The privilege of being able to work whilst studying is open to students in Canada. This helps them to manage their budgets without incurring immense debt, among other advantages. In order to obtain the right to work off-campus, learners must:

  • Have a proper permit for studying;
  • Be a full-time student;
  • be enrolled at a specified learning institution at the post-secondary level or, in Quebec, a vocational programme at the secondary level; and

Study in an undergraduate, occupational or technical training programme leading to a degree, diploma or certificate lasting a period of six months.

His or her research permit would allow him or her to: If an applicant qualifies,

Act during daily academic sessions for up to 20 hours a week; and

Full-time employment during planned vacations, such as holidays in winter and summer or spring breaks.

Post-graduate work permit

A common route from student to permanent resident status in Canada is to take advantage of something provided by Canada that is not easy or more difficult to acquire a post-graduate job visa in other countries.

This work permit may be given for a term of up to a maximum of three years after the conclusion of the research programme.

Thus, a graduate who has completed a four-year study programme will apply for a three-year post-graduate work permit, while a graduate who has completed a 12-month study programme will qualify for a 12-month post-graduate work permit.

A road to permanent Canadian residency

Via the Post-Graduate Work Permit Scheme, professional Canadian work experience lets graduates apply for permanent residency in Canada in the Canadian Experience Class (CEC).

In comparison, some provinces, such as British Columbia and Quebec, have sources of immigration that define permanent residency for certain graduates. Candidates in the Overseas Post-Graduate community in British Columbia have the advantage of not having a work offer and being eligible to process their permanent residency application via the federal Express Entry immigration selection.

Students who graduate from a research programme in Quebec will be entitled through the Quebec Experience Class to qualify for a Quebec Selection Certificate (Certificat de sélection du Québec, generally referred to as a CSQ).

Canada required more students

In the other side, since Canada is all about nation-building, Canada needs teachers. A large part of it is fresh, smart immigrants who have shown they have the credentials and means to assimilate. In short, Canada needs students to come here, learn, make social and economic contributions, and remain forever.
